Transient Limiters For Conductive Emissions Testing

Protect your spectrum analyzer input during conducted emissions testing with a Com-Power transient limiter.

The following products can be used during EMC conducted emissions testing to protect the input of a spectrum analyzer. Combined in both the LIT-153 and LIT-930 Transient Limiters are a low-pass filter, high pass filter, transient suppressors and two separate 5 dB impedance matching attenuation pads; one at the input and one at the output.

transient limiter LIT-153

The LIT-153A spectrum analyzer transient limiter works over the frequency range of 150 kHz to 30 MHz. It provides excellent protection against high level transients coming from the Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN); which, if powerful enough, could potentially damage an unprotected spectrum analyzer input. The LIT-153A has maximum input level ratings of 2 watts CW (+33 dBm), +/- 10 Vdc, and a VSWR of < 1.1:1.

Use the LIT-153 EMI for conducted emissions measurements with an LISN. The unit features N-type input and output connectors. When connected in series with the coaxial line connecting the LISN to the Spectrum Analyzer, the LIT-153A transient limiter protects the spectrum analyzer by blocking potentially harmful, short duration, high level transients from the RF port of the LISN.

LIT-930A spectrum analyzer transient limiter

The LIT-930A features a broader frequency range than the LIT-153A, in that the low end of the its operation extends down to 9 kHz. The unit also features higher maximum input level ratings, as it can withstand input levels up to 4 watts CW (+36 dBm), +/- 15 Vdc. Its VSWR is less than 1.1:1.

Other than these differences, you connect and use the LIT-930A spectrum analyzer transient limiter in the same manner as the LIT-153A.
