T-Series OR Telecom Coupling Decoupling Networks, commonly called CDN Txx in IEC-61000-4-6, conducted immunity standards, injecting common mode disturbances to DUT (Device under test) with balanced data lines. It also decouples these signals so as not to interfere with any auxiliary devices connected to the DUT.
The T series (Except for CDN-T8SE) CDNs are for un-shielded cable applications and are specific to the number of conductors within the cable used by the DUT. For example, it is inappropriate to couple noise onto a cable with two lines using a CDN designed for eight lines. The proper noise level will not be injected into each conductor.
All Com-Power CDN-T series models have a frequency range of 150 kHz to 230 MHz. Com-Power has several models available depending on the number of balanced lines used by the DUT.
A brief description of each model and the application is given below:
CDN-T2E :Two lines or two balanced pairs. Typically, for telecom devices with RJ11.
CDN-T4E : 4 lines or two balanced pairs. A typical application is for ethernet connection up to 10/100 Mbps. It has an RJ45 connector.
CDN-T8E : 8 lines or four balanced pairs. For High-speed ethernet connection up to one gigabit. It has an RJ45 connector
CDN-T8SE : Shielded balanced lines. For shielded ethernet cables.
Test Level calibration accessories
To calibrate CDNs and set the test levels, you require, specific shorting adapters, and a set of 150Ω to 50Ω adapters (ADA-515-X) is required. We recommend purchasing these adapters from Com-Power since they will be needed to calibrate the test levels before testing the product. Typical test levels given in IEC-61000-4-6 are 1, 3, and 10V RMS. The level setup diagram is shown in the CDN T series product manual. Com-Power has put together a test system with components given the test diagram.
Calibration
All Com-Power T series OR Telecom series CDNs are supplied with calibration traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through NIST or the recognized National Metrology Institute. Com-Power also offers ISO-17025 accredited calibration.
